Course Description

This course will introduce students to federal appellate practice and procedure, with a focus on First Amendment litigation. Students will learn the fundamentals of appellate oral argument and brief writing, with multiple opportunities to practice and improve these skills. Our case studies will explore issues relating to the First Amendment right to free speech.

Con Law I and Con Law II (or a Con Law II qualifying course) are required, but Con Law II course may be taken concurrently. (Note that Appellate Advocacy: First Amendment does not meet the Con Law II requirement for Diploma Privilege.)
